I took this photo from KARS Park near Cocoa Beach, Florida. The brightness of the full moon made the shot a little challenging so it made me step out of my comfort zone with exposure settings but I’m pleased with the results. Two minutes into the flight the rocket had reduced it’s weight by 50% from fuel burn and had reached a speed of 5,000mph at the end of the exposure.
Camera: Nikon D810
ISO: 64
Tamron: 15~30 at 15mm
Exposure: 170 sec at f/16

MISSION
Solar Orbiter is an international cooperative mission between the European Space Agency (ESA) and NASA and will soon study the sun. The mission seeks to answer questions like how the sun is able to create and control its heliosphere, the surrounding bubble of magnetic fields. Solar Orbiter will enter Mercury's orbit, nearing as close as 26 million miles away from the sun. After launch, it will take 3 years to reach this elliptical orbit around the sun. The spacecraft has been developed by Airbus Defence and Space.
