Two minutes and thirty seconds of totality! Wow. The weather conditions could not have been any better, well maybe 15 degrees cooler but still just perfect. This was one of the most specular events I have ever experienced and what made it so unique was everyone there was experiencing something they had never seen before either.
After watching the weather all week we decided Sunday afternoon the our best chances were going to be in the Sweetwater TN area. A friend I met on one of my first photography workshops, Skip Thompson, sent me a message about the event planned at Tsali Notch Vineyard in Madisonville TN which is only about 10 miles from Sweetwater. We were still in line to get the full 2:30 seconds of totality so that looked like our best option plus it was the closest to our house, only 110 miles. Not knowing how the traffic would be we headed over at 4:45am Monday morning and arrived by 7:30 without any delays.
