Ponce de Leon Lighthouse
Moon setting as the sun rises from behind. I took this shot with a very small aperture (f22) and low ISO (64) to try and minimize the sunlight but still capture the moon in the background.
The Ponce de Leon Lighthouse is located in the Town of Ponce Inlet situated on the north bank of Ponce Inlet where the Halifax and Indian Rivers flow into the Atlantic Ocean. At 175 feet in height, it is the tallest lighthouse in the state of Florida and one of the tallest in the United States.
The original lamp burned kerosene; in 1909 it was replaced with an incandescent oil vapor lamp. In 1924 a generator was installed to provide electricity in the keepers' dwellings and to pump water replacing an old windmill pump. The lighthouse beacon was electrified in 1933 with a 500-watt lamp rotating Fresnel lens.
